“Inexpensive, does its job, but could be better” The current version of the Targus lapdesk is the picture on the far right.
The desk is lightweight, can be used on your lap and on a desk. And can be used fully opened and flat or folded in half and kept at an angle. It is adjustable by an inch or so. The rubber grips keep the laptop from sliding off, while the slits provide ventilation. At the $20-26 range, this lapdesk delivers.
My main complaint about this is that my heavy-handed husband has already broken the plastic kick-stand at its hinge just by picking up the lapdesk. The hinge for the kickstand needs to be reinforced. Another con, is that the kickstand shape is too rounded at the end making an otherwise sturdy lapdesk seem flimsy and unstable, especially with larger laptops. It is the perfect size for a 10″ netbook (asus1000he) and the HP tablets. With the above 2 issues improved upon, I can see this securely holding 17″ laptops.
On another note: this Targus stand does not have flat-sp…
Product Description The Targus Notebook Portable LapDesk is a folding tray that supports a notebook computer or PDA keyboard while on your lap, plane service tray or other surfaces that require more stabilization. The thin design allows the LapDesk to be packed easily in a notebook case along side the computer, while it is sturdy enough to support the heaviest of laptops. The LapDesk also comes featured with an adjustable foot that can improve the cooling efficiency of your laptop by raising the back edge and increasing the airflow around the computer. |

waste of money ![]() As with many things Targus, this is overpriced cheap plastic and it may keep your lap cooler, but doesn’t do a thing for cooling your notebook in any possible way. It also in the Unfolded position, 1. doesn’t fit widescreen laptops well as there is no room for a mouse and 2. probably will break if I lifted it onto my lap. I use the folded position to use the tilt function. It’s still overpriced for what you get. I’d say it’s worth $10 but probably made for about $2. I’ve owned this for 2 months now and the rubber standoffs don’t work very well anymore and the notebook doesn’t stay put in tilt anymore. (that and it will eventually rip my COA’s off the bottom of the Notebook.)… Flimsy, lightweight plastic Does the job well and folds up small. |

Do NOT Purchase this item!
This is my second review on this product. The first one was deleted after I noted that the images showed two different products: one of them a sturdy lapdesk and the second a flimsy piece of junk. My review never showed up on the site, and the pictures of the other lapdesk disappeared.
The picture shown above is not the item that ships. I ordered this item and received the cheaper, flimsy version that broke.
I have used better
This Targus Lapdesk is made with very flimsy plastic that bows when you try to lift it up with the computer sitting on it. My previous Lapdesk was much sturdier.
